Face Time - #2

Hello, neglected readers of the Maidens' blog!

Sarah has been diligent and consistent in keeping up with her personal blog, but, alas, she can only do so much, whilst Jenny and I fail to put as much effort into the blogging realm as she.  :P

Anywho, here is the much belated sequel to my first Face Time post.

(As a side, I had attempted to post this months ago, and spent a good while photographing these, as well as other, pictures in my sketchbook.  However, when I went to put them on the computer, none of the photos turned out and I gave up.)

And there it is: Face Time #2!

I love this little lady's impish features!  She reminds me of Merida from the movie Brave...

Love-struck is the word that comes to mind with this girl.

The purpose of my Face Time pages is to help me draw my characters with more diversity and expression.  I think I did fairly well with this shy fella.

Rather peeved-lookin', isn't he?  Makes me think of the new BBC's Mycroft Holmes.

Aaaaand, here's an extra drawing for your enjoyment. ^.^

When I was younger, I went through a stage where I drew dragons ALL the TIME.  While I have branched out to different subjects, dragons do manage to pop up every now and then.

Have a blessed day!

Artsy Wednesday - The Archer

Hello, all!

This is Julia, filling in for Jenny on this week's edition of Artsy Wednesday!  Fear not, Jenny and her lovely works shall return next week with a trip through her next "darling", Bernie.

...

If you got lost on that last sentence, click on over here to meet Albert and you will understand. :)

Today, I am sharing a couple sketches of mine depicting an archer from the depths of my murky imagination.  Alas, he has no name...

But he does look pretty cool, if I do say so m'self.

The first sketch was recently drawn (as in, a few days ago), whilst the second dates back quite a few months to I-don't-really-remember-when-because-I-didn't-date-it.

Please forgive the lack of a background and the invisible stool, chair, or whatever it is he is supposed to be sitting on.  I got lazy.

All in all, I am rather pleased with both pictures because of the character's different face and the fact that I was able to accurately replicate it.  It has been difficult for me to portray a character consistently.

There you have it!  I hope you were not too emotionally scarred at having missed Jenny's art work this week.  ;)

Hey, has anyone noticed it is October already?

Untitled Snippets

Sarah's effort to write consistently and actually work on finishing her stories has inspired me.  Unfortunately, I haven't been as diligent as she with my own tales.  As such, the next part of the series I have been attempting to post is not yet ready *cough* written *cough*...

Anywho... here are a few story snippets from various ideas floating around in my strange little mind.  As the title of this post suggests, none of these snippets have a name.  So sad.

          "What is it?"
"The Christian cult, most likely."  Cameron returned to his desk, shuffled through some papers, then picked up a folder.  For a moment, the rustling pages were all that sounded in the small room as he flipped through the contents before handing it to Kyte.  "Take what you need and get busy."
Wordlessly, Kyte accepted the folder and left.  Davis followed him to the door, watching him depart down the bleak hallway while Cameron sat down heavily with a sigh.
          "Is he always like that?"
Cameron raised an eyebrow at the inquiry.
"He's an Enforcer.  What does it matter?"

"Because it is the desire of the Ministry of Unity that all be welcomed, and none rejected, and that peace abound, we, the Council, have decided as one that you be granted the opportunity to renounce this faith, which so blatantly discriminates against any sort of tolerance and respect that is necessary for the peace of the world and universe."

"She's a Christian," the officer on her left answered.  "She is to be removed from society.  We are taking her to Cleansing."

"Enough!" Papa roared, startling Jared and Mirian.  "Move aside and let us pass!"  Narrowing his eyes, the soldier drew his own weapon.
"You are too late!" he hissed.

Myra shook her head hopelessly.  "Glork swoggle," she snorted.

"That little brat bit me," he spat, pointing at the fiery boy with his bloodied finger.  Malin laughed.
"Really, Logan," he chuckled at the indignant man, reaching down to pat the boy roughly on the head. "How could a harmless little-- Ye-heeek!"
